Through four games, the Royals’ bats weren’t nearly as loud as expected, having not seen a single ball leave the yard. Yet, Kansas City is 2-1 and finding ways to get wins.

Saturday night, the ball started flying.

Mike Moustakas and Lorenzo Cain got things started with back-to-back homers in the 4th inning, then followed up with two more runs in the 5th on Minnesota errors.

Ian Kennedy pitched a magnificent game for the Royals in his debut, giving up four hits in 6 2/3 scoreless innings.

Kendrys Morales–freshly shaved–added another home run and Alcides Escobar hit his second triple of the season as the Royals finished the game with a dominant 7-0 victory.

Ned Yost said after the game he was concerned at all with Kennedy’s lackluster performance during the spring, showing confidence in his new addition when it comes to the real deal regular season.

Kennedy admitted their is extra incentive knowing he his pitching for the defending champions and wanting to do well in his first outing of the season.

Minnesota, on the other hand, now enters Sunday’s game with an 0-5 start to the season, their worst in franchise history, and unable to find an answers on how to beat the Royals.

The game was in such full control that Yost was able to use a variety of pitchers to close out the game, none of which named Wade Davis.

The more rest he can afford his closer, the better.

Paulo Orlando got the start in right field for KC, and chipped in with three hits on the night including an RBI single, then scored on Escobar’s triple.

Chien-Ming Wang, who won 38 games for the New York Yankees in 2006, made his first appearance in the big leagues since 2013 and closed out with a scoreless 9th inning for Kansas City.
