Ladies and gentlemen, history has been made. Mike Moustakas has officially broken the record for most home runs in a season. Previously held by Steve Balboni with 36 home runs in 1985 (perhaps we’ll see a coincidence this year as the last time a franchise record for home runs was broken, it lead to a world series!) Moustakas broke the record with now 37 home runs, and more to come this season!
The Moose is on the Loose!
Since the day he was born on September 11, 1988, Moose was born for greatness.
Mike went to Chatsworth High School in California, where he started all four years, voted “Player of the Year” by Cal-Hi Sports twice and holds the record for most home runs (52) in a California prep school for the state. USA Today selected Moustakas to the All-USA high school baseball team in 2007.
As he excelled in high school, many schools took notice. USC offered Moustakas a scholarship to play for the Trojans after his high school career…
But Moose decided to take on the major leagues and declared for the draft. Mike was drafted second overall in 2007 by the Kansas City Royals!
Moustakas is now the Royal’s third baseman. He has had 408 AB, 114 H, 73 RBI, .279 AVG and a franchise record!
Congrats on the 37th home run Moose!! Let’s see some more!
