It’s only Tuesday, but fans around Kansas City are already in party mode for Thursday’s American League Divisional Series Game 1 at Kauffman Stadium.
The Royals await the winner of Tuesday’s Wild Card game between the New York Yankees and Houston Astros, which give Ned Yost and his staff a chance to see what takes shape before solidifying their 25-man playoff roster.
For fans, Tuesday is a chance to get out to Kauffman and get excited for what hopes to be a deep run in the 2015 MLB Postseason.
The free event, which opens at 12:15 p.m., will feature hosts Rex Hudler and Ryan Lefebvre, and will feature the likes of General Manager Dayton Moore, Manager Ned Yost, and Royals players.
Additionally, Sluggerrr and KCrew will be on-hand to entertain fans during the rally. Despite the fact that it falls in the middle of a work day, the event is anticipating a large showing from fans across the metro looking to catch playoff fever a couple of days early.
Thursday’s game 1 will either take place at 6:37 p.m., or 7:07 p.m., depending on which team comes away with a victory.
For Royals fans, the overwhelming desired outcome seems to be in favor of a Royals/Yankees matchup.
During the season, Kansas City had its share of struggles with Astros, which feature a much stronger pitching attack than that of New York.
Either way, the Royals are entering the playoffs having won five in a row and seem to have kicked it into playoff gear over that time period.
With home-field advantage locked in for the entirety of the postseason, the Royals need to take care of business at home, come away with a win or two on the road, and would likely find themselves in the World Series in consecutive seasons.
